Systematic Observation 1: Time Analysis

From observing Mr. Bergstrom in his lesson I noticed that he did a
great job keeping the students engaged and active. For his lesson he
had stations that involved basketball, badminton, footballs, and

Frisbees. What I did was I observed his lesson every 15 seconds, and
within those seconds I had to determine whether or not his students
were engaged and active. From the data, I was able to see students
achieve a good amount of MVPA. The students had a total of 14.5
minutes with only 5 minutes of instructions, but with 10 minutes of
management. Mr. Reggie did a great job keeping his students engaged,
but one thing I would recommend is that for some stations some
students were just standing around and looking, so in order to help
make this a little better Mr. Reggie should keep an eye on those that he
knows are not as skilled or would be distracted from the activity. One
other thing that MR. Reggie could do is separate the athletic students
with the not so athletic students that way it can balance out. I know it
can be challenging at times to separate those students but its worth a
try, but I feel like Mr. Reggie did a great job overall keeping his class
engaged and active.
Systematic Observation 2: Teacher Movement
For my next systematic observation I had to look at every
movement Mr. Reggie did during his lesson. During my observation I
did notice that he walked more when the students were engaged
because he was going around and providing the students with
feedback. I also noticed that he walked more during his lesson core
than any other activity. For example during the instant activity he
tends to stand around more than usual, but when it comes to the first

activity he automatically turns on his walking switch and starts to

walk around the perimeter. I like how he improved over the time
because I can remember from the beginning how he wouldnt move
around as much as he does now. Overall I feel like Mr. Reggie did a
better job during his movement, he was able to cover more ground,
provide more feedback, and because of this it led the students to get a
higher MVPA.
