Dear Mr. Strauss,
I am writing to you to introduce myself as a potential educator for the Bozeman Public School District.
Ever since I began working with students at the elementary school level, I have grown in my passion and
commitment to maximizing individual student performance and inspiring students to become life-long
learners. This passion has been evident in my own teaching practice, through the effective integration of
technology and 21st century skills into my lessons. I have dedicated my field experience, work experience,
along with volunteer opportunities to each of these pursuits.
My experiences over the past 4 years have allowed me to work with students in Kindergarten through 5 th
Grade. In my student teaching experience at Hyalite Elementary School I had the opportunity to
effectively integrate technology into a variety of subjects including math, science, and social studies. I
utilized a variety of applications within the classroom including Google Drawing, QR Codes, Pebble Go,
and Kids Blog. During my reading internship experience, I also had the opportunity to work with a small
group of on-watch 2nd grade students to provide effective reading intervention. Through the Leveled
Literacy Intervention System along with my own explicit phonics instruction, I was able to successfully
transition the entire literacy group back into the general classroom for reading instruction.
Through my achievement of a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education along with a Minor in K-12
Reading Teaching at Montana State University I have also become familiar with the current best practices
in assessment, instruction, planning, and classroom management. I have consistently used the Workshop
Model as a means for teaching reading and math, and have also used graphic organizers to enhance my
instruction in a variety of subjects. Lastly, as a life-long learner I am a reflective practitioner and have
made appropriate changes to my lessons based upon a multitude of factors including student engagement
and understanding of the material.
As a teacher who is committed to making data-driven decision making, continually reflecting upon my
own teaching practices, and effectively integrating technology into the classroom with the goal of
equipping all students to become life-long learners I am confident I will be a great educator in the
Bozeman Public School District. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing
from you soon.
Sincerely,

Jennifer Skinner
