you enjoy the rst issue of
Backbend. I am extremely
happy with accomplishing my
rst issue. It has been a dream
for years to publish my own
magazine and the dream nally
came true after hard work
and amazing staff members.
These past months I was lucky
enough to go to Aruba to Rachel
Brathens YOGA RETREAT
that you can read about on
page 7. Aruba was amazing
and Rachel was amazing. We
practiced yoga outside and
on SUP boards that was an
amazing and fun experience. To
avoid jetlag after I came back
from Aruba I practiced yoga
waiting for my airplane and did
some simple poses as I stepped
out from the airplane. To try
them yourself, turn to page 10.

1. Hydration
It is important to hydrate and drink water before,
during and after class. Coconut water gives
a natural hydration and is a good alternative
to drink right after an hour of sweating.
2. What to wear
Because of the heat which is 100 farenheit,
girls should wear shorts and a top or sports
bra and guys should wear a shorts. The
most important is to feel comfortable.
3. What to bring
Bring a yogamat in case the studio doesnt have
rentals, also bring a lock for your personal
belongings. You should bring two towels, one
to place on your mat during class so you dont
slip and to protect your mat. Bring another
towel if you want to shower. after class.
4. Arrive early
Arriving early to your first yoga class gives
you time to register, change clothes and
also gives you time to relax in the heated
room for your body to get used to the heat.
5.Dizziness
Dizziness is normal the first couple of
classes and can occur if you havent
had enough water during the water.
