Timeline app
At
the
beginning
of
the
activity,
the
class
will
be
divided
into
two
teams.
You
will
be
competing
with
each
other
to
guess
the
explorer/navigator.
You
need
to
enter
the
code
provided
by
the
teacher
in
the
app
on
the
iPad.
Each
group
will
take
turns
to
volunteer
a
group
member
(one
at
a
time)
to
represent
a
particular
world
navigator/explorer
of
the
age
of
discovery
(15th
to
17th
centuries).
There
will
be
a
series
of
character
cards
at
the
front
of
the
classroom.
These
cards
contain
information
about
a
key
individual
from
the
age
of
discovery.
The
volunteered
student:
Select one card from the top, without showing it to the rest of the class, and read it (not out loud).
You
need
to
role-play
the
character
without
disclosing
his
name
to
the
teams,
so
these
can
guess
whom
the
character
may
be.
The
teams:
Listen
and
observe
the
volunteer
carefully
in
order
to
gain
the
information
necessary
to
guess
correctly
which
character
the
volunteer
is
representing.
Quietly discuss with your groups who you think the character is and press the buzzer to provide an answer.
You
have
the
opportunity
to
ask
the
volunteer
two
questions
about
achievements,
journey,
etc.
to
help
you
if
you
are
strugglig
to
give
a
response.
The
teacher:
Ensure each team is competing fairly and gives the same amount of time to provide responses to each group.
If
one
group
fails
to
provide
an
answer
within
the
timeframe,
provide
the
other
team
with
the
opportunity
to
respond.
Once a group has given a response the you can validate their response or select wrong answer on the app.
Assign
points
to
each
team
when
they
give
the
correct
answer.
Bonus
points
awarded
if
the
group
is
able
to
give
additional
historical
information
about
the
explorer
or
navigator.
Once
each
explorer/navigator
has
been
identified,
in
your
teams
place
each
of
these
individuals
on
a
timeline.
You
need
to
take
photographs
of
the
characters
in
front
of
you
and
place
these
on
a
digital
timeline
(RWT
Timeline
app).
These
timelines
will
then
be
shown
on
the
projector
screen
for
all
students
to
see.
To
check
the
results,
the
volunteers
will
place
themselves
in
the
correct
order
in
front
of
the
groups.
One
point
is
awarded
to
each
team
if
they
have
placed
a
character
in
the
correct
spot
on
the
timeline.
The
group
with
the
most
number
of
points
wins
-
(prize
can
be
negotiated
with
the
teacher).
