UWRT 1102
1. My intended audience is sports fans who are interested in what the media has to
say. Another group of people that my project would concern would be people who
watch the news and are interested in the fact that other media sources may be
biased. I chose this audience for my project because I wanted to focus on the bias
in mainstream sports media and these audiences would be the people who are
most directly affected by this or the people who would have the largest concern
with the issue.
2. I wanted to give the general public the knowledge that I have acquired about
biased media therefore my purpose was to inform. I wanted to make sure that
people know that there is an obvious bias and this is so that they can spread the
word and inform others about the issue. This could eventually lead to a large
uproar about the bias and cause the larger corporations to change in order to
adhere to the issue.
3. I chose a newspaper article in the sports section as my genre. This is because I felt
as if the best way to reach the target audience was through the sports section in a
newspaper because it is read by people who are sports fans and care about the
media says. It also would be a good way to reach a large group of people without
having to go through the mainstream media. I can use a local newspaper in order
to reach public because the mainstream media would not want to report badly
upon themselves.
