Final Reflection Essay Assignment
At the beginning of this course I described myself as a good writer. I felt that as a writer
my best work was written in high school. I stated that I felt like the paper I wrote in high school
was my best because I prepared for it and did not procrastinate. At beginning of the course I
said that my biggest weakness as a writer was not having proper grammar and not being able to
convey my thoughts to my reader very well. I also stated at the beginning of the semester that I
wished to become a better writer by fixing the aspects of my writing that I felt I could and by
learning new writing methods in this course.

The goal of this course was to, emphasizing extended inquiry in several forms over the
whole term ... Well explore how to research, form, shape and evaluate effective writing
projects in several ways, including in academic rhetorical situations. Well study how to judge
the value and credibility of sources.(Blair, 2015) I believe that this course taught me a lot
about extended inquiry. Reading articles from Orwell and Nancy woods taught me many things
about questioning articles that you read. Orwell also taught me not to use passive voice and to

not use a lot of big words when a smaller word can suffice. Many things about argumentative
writing and fallacies in others writings.

I believe that the writing process that we went through during this course was very
effective at improving my writing. I stated earlier that I felt like my best writing was a product
of being prepared. I felt prepared for every paper I had to write this semester because of the
extended inquiry questions we had to answer before writing our papers. I enjoyed having our
papers peer reviewed and committed on. The steps that we took before turning in our final
paper were very beneficial for me.

As a writer now I believe that I am better at conveying my thoughts to my readers. I

attribute my progress to the multiple peer reviews and teacher reviews we had during this
course. I learned that it is best to have as many examples as possible when making a point or
arguing something. During our second inquiry project I learned that we needed as many
examples as possible for proving an argument. In learned that a good rule of thumbs is to have
at least three examples for every point you are try to make.

In this course I learned many things that I will attribute to my growth as a writer. This
course taught me how the recognize fallacies in peoples arguments, support my very own
statement with at least three examples, use simple words instead of complex words, and it also

taught me how to analyze authors texts to find their claims. This course improved my skills as a
writer.
