Reflection Paper
As I was growing up, I have always dreamed of becoming a math teacher considering
math is my favorite subject. Once I got older to where I was able to help younger students on
their work, I was really amazed. I was amazed for the reason that I coped very well with other
students and made them feel special after I showed them how to work out a problem. Another
reason I would like to become a math teacher is that I love interacting with younger students and
helping them learn. I believe all students have the ability to learn and will gain a lot of
knowledge by someone who is teaching them in a way that is best taught.
I genuinely took pleasure in going to Roxton Middle/High School to observe Mrs. Helms
math classroom. She taught math for grades 6-8, which is the grades I would like to teach. Her
classroom arrangement was put in good shape in way I intend to arrange my future classroom
one day, which is in four rows of three seats and one row of two seats. She arrayed each grade
level objective on a dry erase board that was positioned on the right side of the class. The first
day I eagle-eyed Mrs. Helms classroom, she pulled me into her lecture by presenting a rap on
YouTube rapping about angle relationships and how to solve an equation. She has superb
communication and teaching skills. Mrs. Helms used tons of facial expressions, gestures, eye
contact, and movement that taught me a way I can teach my future class. She matched her facial
expressions by what she was explaining. For example, when she explained an obtuse angle, she
made a ferocious voice, she made a mild voice when she explained a right angle, and made a

baby voice when she explained an acute angle. Moreover, she always made eye contact between
the students while writing math examples on the board and her voice was loud and clear as she
constantly walked around the classroom to ensure that every student was performing each
problem correctly and made excellent gestures with her arms. Last but not least, Mrs. Helms
allowed the students to get out of their seats to do the angle relationship rap dance, and her
lesson was the right amount of time.
All in all, I plan to model my classroom similar to a way Mrs. Helms fixed up her
classroom, which was designed in math formulas, math vocabulary, quotes, pictures, and a lot of
color. My future plans are to teach my math classroom with masses of energy, facial expressions,
gestures, eye contact, movement, intense voice, and totally make sure my students are welled
involved with the lesson I am teaching. Also, I will make sure I keep up with time so that I will
not explain a problem too long and run out of time resembling Mrs. Helms. Ultimately, I will
teach the students to the best of my ability to enable every student achievement grows greater
each day.
