People are talking about a genetically engineered poliovirus that thus far shows signs as
being a cure for cancerous brain tumors. Molecular biologist, Mathias Gromeier, removed
poliovirus paralyzing and death trait and spliced a piece of genetic code from a cold-causing
rhinovirus into the poliovirus genome to maintain a complete genetic code. Mankind has created
PVS-RIPO, which is a super virus that has never existed on earth until now. Even though this
newly created virus is intended and being used as a vaccine, its also a foundation for a biological
weapon.

Clements, Kenny. Personal interview. 2 May 2015.

My Uncle Kenny was recently diagnosed with a cancer tumor on his lung. It was 4cm in
length and 12mm in diameter. He is now better but for the past three months he explains how the
radiation treatment was.
I want to use this information in a variety of ways. The first would have to be how he
explains how painful the radiation was so painful that he wouldnt even wish it on his worst
enemy. Another thing I want to talk about is the fact that his treatment cost 124,000 dollars for
the treatments he had to have 2 times a day that cost 2,000 dollars each.

This is where the new virus was created. It talks about how the scientist used 2 different
viruses to create one virus. Another thing that is mentioned is his background story in the
creation and testing of this genetically engineered poliovirus.
I am going to use this article to support my argument. I want to explain how the virus was
created and that it is manmade. I want to use this as a foundation for my position synthesis and
then expand off these facts with my own opinion and supporting details from other sources.

Clark, Arda Darakjian. Brain Tumors. Detroit: Thomson, Gale, 2006. Print.

This book has interesting information about brain tumors. It explains the signs and treatment
for brain tumors. It shows what you can do to best support someone who has been diagnosed
with a brain tumor. And the physical and mental strain it has on the individual.
I feel that this would make a great addition to my report. The information in this book will
help me understand different treatment options. I can sympathize with the emotional effects that
brain tumors have to better understand what its like. Another thing that I will be able to mention
is what to look for if you have a brain tumor.

This peer reviewed article has all the information available on the polio virus. It explains how
deadly this virus can be. It shows you how to prevent the spread of the virus because you cant
prevent getting it unless you have the vaccine. One other thing I found interesting is this article is
how it became famous.
I plan to use this article in every way that I can. I find that it will be most helpful in
supporting my argument. I will explain how its spread, what it does to the body, and how it is
unstoppable because you actually start spreading it before you get symptoms.

Clements, Michael. Personal interview. 2 April 2015

The interview explains the physical strain of having a tumor growing on your bone. He
knows the emotional abuse of having a tumor and knowing that your bone is dissolving. It also
has the joy of a tumor disappearing and then reappearing and what that does to a 5 year old,
especially when its on your leg and the doctor says he isnt sure what to expect.
I believe that this will help me make my report more effective. This is not some random
person who I have no clue who they are. I will use this to create a connection with the reader
because of my brothers story when dealing with a tumor and be able to gain a wider audience
because I know what it is that families go through when dealing with cancer.
