The following are characteristics of a thermocouple (TC) when immersed in a stirred

bath:
Mass of TC (g)
Heat capacity of TC (cal/g oC)
Heat transfer coefficient for thermocouple
and bath
(cal/cm2 h oC)
Surface area of thermocouple (cm2)

a. Derive the transfer function model for TC, that relates the change in indicated
thermocouple reading to the change in the temperature of the bath.
Assuming the following:
Uniform temperature (no gradient in the TC head)
No heat conduction
Constant physical properties
Conversion of millivolt output to oC is very very fast.
b. Consider TC initially out of the bath is at room temperature (23 oC).
Determine the maximum TC reading if it is suddenly immersed in the bath
(80 oC), and held there for 10 seconds.
c. Consider TC initially out of the bath is at room temperature (23 oC). If the
temperature of the bath increases at the rate of 1 oC/second. What will be the
TC reading after 10 seconds.
