Bringing to life a historic gem in Moravia

Speakers: Pemysl Krejik and Kamila Krejikov

Monday 18 May 2015
6.30pm

Mirroring the restoration work for which Stowe is famed for, much
has been achieved in the Czech Republic to save and restore their
tranquil and beautiful historic gardens. In this talk Premysyl and
Kamil will discuss their most recent projects restoring important
historic gardens, explain the key values which make each site unique
and discuss the international context - how projects and thinking
in the UK influences their work. They will delve into the continued
management and care of the sites and discuss what the future holds
for these magnificent and significant works of landscape design.
Premysyl and Kamila are specialists in landscape restoration and have
had the privilege of giving new life to many historical gardens and
parks in the Czech Republic. Perhaps the most important of these
are their UNESCO projects; Lednice Park and its glasshouse, the
garden of Villa Tugendhat at Brno and the Kvetna garden in Kromeriz.
Premysl is also a lecturer at Mendel University where he teaches a new
generation of landscape designers and garden historians with the aim
of further restoring and protecting the heritage of the beautiful area.
