Job Search Final Presentation

Alrighty job seekers, you have searched high and low, reviewed, and reflected and now youre almost done with your
task. It is time to think about your learning and draft a Reflective Presentation. You will have 3 to 5 minutes to speak
about your learning from this unit of study. This means that you cannot share everything! You will have lots of freedom
in your choice so be creative. And, to support the content of your speech, you will gather all of your materials to create a
beautifully organized poster to host all of your hard work. Dont worry if youre not crafty, you can print your
documents for this showcase. What is most important is that you are going to share your learning; show your audience
how you made your choices and what information helped you to decide. Teach them what you learned about yourself
and your potential career field.

1. Review your work and select the most important information to share with your audience.

Poster Guidelines
1. Your poster must be on paper (medium or large poster paper or 3 fold presentation screen).
2. The poster must be legible from the back of the classroom so entire audience can understand it.
3. The poster must contribute to your speechto clarify your point or content.
Your speech and sketch of your poster are due this Tuesday. We will peer review both.
Your speech and presentation are worth 75 points.

Helpful tips:

1. Decide what information you want to include in your speech and poster
a. DO NOT simply print everything youve done and glue it to a piece of construction paper.
b. Select the pieces that you found helpful when selecting your career. You may include:
i. Brief paragraph to explain how you chose this career path
ii. Basic facts about the job that you found throughout your research, like what that
person does or how much money they make
iii. The career hierarchy to show how to become what you want to be
iv. Important information you learned about the field from your interview
v. Pictures to show the audience what people with that job do
2. Organize your information
a. Find a format that best SHOWS your progress throughout this project
i. Try a flow chart or four square chart for example
ii. Use graphics to designate each section of your poster
b. Use titles and captions to guide the reader through your poster
3. Create the poster
a. Ask Ms. Burnett or Mr. Garrido for poster board (or go to Big Lots!)
b. Take your time and make it neat
c. Give it a catchy title that clearly relates to your career field
d. The audience MUST BE ABLE TO READ IT FROM ACROSS THE ROOM
i. This doesnt mean to print all documents in 34 point font, but make sure that your
viewing audience will understand what you do include.
FAQs:
1. What if Im missing assignments or havent learned anything?
You did learn something. Go back and present what you have found out.
If you didnt do the assignments, do them now. You still have time to learn and, even though you will not
receive credit for your work, you will succeed at your speech.
2. Will this help my grade?
That dependsif you dont do it, your grade only goes down. If you do well, your grade only goes up. If
you do a half-effort job, there you go
3. Can I choose the Advisory class I speak to?
No, Ms. Burnett assigns them based on your career choice. This way one group of students wont listen to
four presentations about Law Enforcement.
4. What if I dont have supplies?
Ask Mr. Niblett or Ms. Burnett to print. Ask Ms. Burnett or Mr. Garrido for supplies.
5. Who will grade my poster and presentation?
Ms. Burnett will evaluate your poster.
The teacher and two students in the advisory class will evaluate your presentation.
