INTRODUCTION
Microfinance, a term used to refer to the activity of provision
of financial services to clients who are excluded from the
traditional financial systems on account of their lower
economic status.
The Microfinance is changing the landscape of banking
across the world.
Successful microfinance institutions have proven that
providing financial services to the poor can be an effective
means of poverty reduction & be a profitable business.
The micro finance service providers -National Bank for
Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Small
Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). At the retail
level, Commercial Banks, Regional Rural Banks, and,
Cooperative banks provide micro finance services.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY


To study the performance of
microfinance in India.
To know about the various institutions
that is doing the job of promoting
microfinance in India.
To know the role of Microfinance in
removing the poverty.
To know the awareness of microfinance
in Udhampur district.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Type of Data Used:
Secondary data and Primary data.
Sampling technique:
Convenient sampling
Primary Data Collection
The primary data is collected through questionnaires are given to the respondents.
SIZE OF SAMPLE
The population of the sample is 50 respondents in Udhampur district.

Tools that have been used for data collection:Internet.


Newspaper.
Magazines.
Journals.

FINDINGS
Microfinance reduced poverty through
increasing income levels.
Microfinance improves poor peoples lives by
contributing to improved healthcare,
childrens education & nutrition & womens
empowerment.
Successful microfinance institutions have
proven that providing financial services to the
poor can be an effective means of poverty
reduction & be a profitable business.
