Reflective essay
The essay that thought me the most about communication and writing skills in this
English class was the proposal argument. In part it was because I had a better understanding of
what I was supposed to do, but also I think that all the previous peer reviews helped me better
my writing. While writing my essay I also learned several interesting and shocking facts about
adrenaline that I was able to relate to. Also, one of the most important things that the proposal
argument taught me was to do better research and how to use more credible sources.
The proposal argument thought me several things, one of them was to do better research
and look for the most important details instead of writing sentences that were not needed. One
way it taught me is by going in depth with research, by using the Alvin community college data
base which its more reliable than sites we look up in google. It also taught me how to place
quotations in my essay the proper way. Now instead of just placing quotations all over the essay,
I use words that will help my quotations to not look rough. Another way the proposal argument
essay helped me was by letting my other classmates read and review my essay while I did the
same with theirs. The peer reviews helped me because the classmates would see mistakes such as
misspelled words or grammar errors that I had not seen at the time of writing the essay and they
would help me fix them. They also have helped me by giving me ideas of what to write
whenever I would get stuck in a sentence and ran out of ideas. Besides giving me ideas they

would also give me suggestions of pages I could use to look up information about my topic,
which I found extremely helpful because I was having trouble finding good reliable information
about my topic. Their comments also helped me figured out what problems I have at the time of
writing an essay. One of my major problems is to establish the thesis statement which explains
why I got such a low grade in my first essay, but now thanks to their comments I have gotten
better in my grammar and at establishing the thesis statement and topic sentences. However, not
everything was about errors, while doing research for the topic I learned several interesting facts
such as the symptoms that an adrenaline has, the effects that adrenaline can cause to the human
body physically and mentally, but most interesting of all was that while reading about the
symptoms adrenaline junkies have I noticed that I could relate to most of those symptoms, which
at first I did not really care, but after reading what those symptoms lead to I was not sure if it was
a good thing or not. However, besides been an interesting paper I think the proposal essay was
the one that taught me the most about how to write a proper essay, fix my grammar error and do
better research with credible sources.
