Introduction: Good afternoon! Todays learning goals include the warm up, a rhythm on
page 39, and Cyclone.
Procedure:
Warm Up: play through and give feedback about legato tonguing in box D
o Students define legato tonguing
o Students play through box D again (Bb major scale in a round)
Cyclone: play through and restart when band gets lost
o End section with accents: students loop section to achieve accented front to
half notes
o Work slowly on m. 87 to the end (eighth note runs) and speed up
o Play m. 87 to end with metronome
** Differentiated Instruction:
1. Several students must sit in the back of the class for behavior reasons
2. 4 students are still passing off on #76 in their book, so they go into a
practice room during the Cyclone rehearsal
Closure:
Great work on this today. We got all the way through Cyclone! Tomorrow, well look at
Low Rider.
