Competency 01: THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS HUMAN DEVELOPMENTAL

PROCESSES AND APPLIES THIS KNOWLEDGE TO PLAN INSTRUCTION

AND ONGOING ASSESSMENT THAT MOTIVATE STUDENTS AND ARE
RESPONSIVE TO THEIR DEVELOPMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS AND
NEEDS.
Teachers need to be aware of what they are teaching to their students. For example in
their lesson plans they should include all students and have modifications for special
students and ELLs. Lesson plans that are planned by the teachers has to benefit all
students.

Competency 02: The teacher understands student diversity and knows how to plan
learning experiences and design assessments that are responsive to differences
among students and that promote all students learning.
Teachers need to understand and have to be aware of different cultures and beliefs that
students will have and bring to class. We as teachers need to provide activities for all all
students, we cannot make the other kids left out such as our ELLs students we are
responsible to include them with other students, also make them feel safe and

comfortable. I believe that is our duty as teachers.

Competency 03: THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS PROCEDURES FOR
DESIGNING EFFECTIVE AND COHERENT INSTRUCTION AND
ASSESSMENT BASED ON APPROPRIATE LEARNING GOALS AND
OBJECTIVES.

Each grade has TEKS that teachers have to go by and to follow. Is our responsibility to
teach those TEKS to our students in a easier way for them to understand. Each day
students have an objective and a goal they have to meet for that to happen we have to
teach them the right way and a way they will comprehend.

Competency 04: The teacher understands learning processes and factors that impact
student learning and demonstrates this knowledge by planning effective, engaging
instruction and appropriate assessments.
As a teacher, they need to know and understand what she will teach to her students to
have a positive outcome. Lessons that are planned by the teacher have to be fun and selfexplanatory for students to be engaged. I believe that assessments is a good thing for
students to have after teacher have taught the lesson because that will help her see who
still needs help and who got it.

Competency 05: The teacher knows how to establish a classroom climate that fosters
learning, equity, and uses this knowledge to create a physical and emotional
environment that is safe and productive.
I believe that teachers have to provide a positive environment for students to have the
ability to learn. Feeling safe is very important, by doing this you can communicate with
students by asking simple questions such as how was your weekend, teachers need to let
their students know that they care for them and that they will be there to listen in what
they have to say. Having this relation with your students will help them learn and be
engaged.

Competency 06: The teacher understands strategies for creating an organized and
productive environment and for managing student behavior.
Be aware of behavior problems with students, there is a lot of strategies that teachers can
use to control behavior or to decrease behavior in the classroom. For example having
prizes for the students that make right choices and to also have consequences for those
who do not.

Competency 07: THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS AND APPLIES PRINCIPLES

AND STRATEGIES FOR COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY IN VARIED
TEACHING AND LEARNING CONTEXTS.
Communication is very important between students and teachers.

Competency 008: THE TEACHER PROVIDES APPROPRIATE INSTRUCTION

THAT ACTIVELY ENGAGES STUDENTS IN THE LEARNING PROCESS.
This to me means that the teacher knows what she is teaching to her students and makes it
fun for them. By doing this they are being actively engage and most importantly they are
learning by being active.

Competency 009: THE TEACHER INCORPORATES THE EFFECTIVE USE OF

TECHNOLOGY TO PLAN, ORGANIZE, DELIVER AND EVALUATE
INSTRUCTION FOR ALL STUDENTS.

Some students may learn better by using technology and some will not learn as the other
students. But it is an effective use of technology to plan, organizes and deliver
information by using the promethean board, computers, and iPad.

Competency 010: THE TEACHER MONITORS STUDENT PERFORMANCE

AND ACHIEVEMENT; PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH TIMELY, HIGHQUALITY FEEDBACK; AND RESPONDS FLEXIBLY TO PROMOTE
LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS.
The teacher observes students progress and provides them with feedback that will help
the student know what he/she did wrong or where he/she needs improvement on.

Competency 011: THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT IN CHILDRENS EDUCATION AND KNOWS HOW
TO INTERACT AND COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH FAMILIES.
Communication between parents and teachers is very important. That will let you know
that the parent is involved and is willing to help in any way possible for the best of the
child.

Competency 012: THE TEACHER ENHANCES PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE

AND SKILLS BY EFFECTIVELY INTERACTING WITH OTHER MEMBERS

OF THE EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY AND PARTICIPATING IN VARIOUS

TYPES OF PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES.
As we like for parents to be involved in activities its also important for teachers to be
part or involved in professional or school activities along with students and parents.

Competency 013: THE TEACHER UNDERSTANDS AND ADHERES TO LEGAL

AND ETHICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EDUCATORS AND IS
KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE STRUCTURE OF EDUCATION IN TEXAS.
By being a teacher we also know that we have a set of rules that we have to follow and
not break for the safety of our students and ourselves. We have requirement that we have
to meet as a teacher/ educator.
