REFLECTIONS ON PERIODS OF WORK SHADOWING UNDERTAKEN

Reflecting back on my experiences with working with animals, I feel that every
single practice has helped me to gain a great amount of confidence and
knowledge. I was able to handle and work with many types of animals, from
piglets, lambs and cattle from my images, to other animals from my practical
lessons in first year of university such as reptiles and companion animals.
It is important that I have gained a vast knowledge of how to handle different
animals, as my future job role requires experience of handling different animals.
Some experiences, for example working on a farm with cattle, has also taught
me the other various important roles with working with animals, such as feeding
and their environment importance (cleanliness etc.), not just the handling of the
animals themselves.
Even though these experiences have increased my skills and experience, helping
me with my confidence also, it has made me realise how much more experience
would benefit me when attempting to achieve my future career goal. I feel I have
a lot more experience and knowledge to gain, and these experiences so far have
been a starting point.
