My Option: Math

I chose math as my option because math is my passion. In order to accomplish my goal I

plan to enroll In the STAR program at CSUDH. For me, it is a privilege to join the program
because they offer many benefits. Through that program I can complete my credential and
Masters degree in 15 months. I work alongside a master teacher while earning my credential.
They offer practical classroom experiences through their lab school and job placement after
completing the credential program. Also, all participants receive a stipend plus a TEACH grant if
eligible. Dr. Kamal Hamdam is the director of the program. I have great respect for Mr. Hamdam
because he has been an awesome person who motivates and educates all his candidates to do
their best. He has a passion for his work and he transmitted it to us. This program places teachers
in high need areas. I am excited to have the opportunity to work in a high need area because
these are the students who needs me. I will impact their future by creating a positive change in
their life and community.
The artifacts that I will include in my portfolio are my certificate of recognition and a
word problem from Math 143. My certificate is awarded for successfully participating and
completing the Math & Science Teacher Initiative Program. My word problem from Math 143
shows every step I encountered as I was going through. These artifacts are examples that I have
the skills and capacity to teach this subject without any difficulties.
