Juan Ponce de Leon

Juan Ponce de Len (1460-1521) was born in Spain as a Nobile,


he went with Christopher Columbus on his 1493 voyage to the
New World. After that he governed the eastern province of
Hispaniola and then he decided to explore a nearby island,
which became Puerto Rico, he established the oldest European
settlement in Puerto Rico. Ponce de Len led an expedition to
the coast of what is now Florida in 1513, he is the first
European who set foot on the Florida and named it, hes
famous for the searching of the fountain of youth. He sailed
back to colonize the region in 1521, but was fatally wounded in
an Indian attack soon after his arrival. He was a good Spanish
explorer, because he didnt killed anyone when he was settled
in Florida, second, he discover Florida and giving it such
beautiful name.
