Growth of food:Colombian Cuisine is very multiple and varies depending on

the different regions of Colombia.Colombia is not a paradise for vegetarians in the


Colombian diet they include a lot of meat. In the coastal areas you will find a good
variety of fish, lobster and seafood often prepared with a sauce made out of coconut
milk. The offer of fresh fruit is overwhelming and many of the varieties you probably
never heard of before.In general breakfast, it is important in Colombia and consists of
fruit juice, coffee or hot chocolate, fruit, eggs and bread. Lunch which is served between
12 and 2pm is the main meal of the day, at least in the countryside. A traditional main
meal consists of a soup, a main dish, a drink and sometimes a dessert which is
generally very sweet. The dinner is more like a snack.

Typical Main Meals & Dishes

Chicken soup: It includes chicken, two kinds of potatoes, corn, sour cream, capers,
avocado and guasca. Guasca is a special herb that grows throughout the Americas and
gives the soup its distinct flavour.
Arepa: The basic side to any Colombian meal. It is a bread made from cornmeal, similar
to a thick pancake. It is normally eaten with an adornment of butter, although sometimes
corn is added.
Arroz con Coco: It is a common side dish of the Caribbean coast of Colombia. White
rice is cooked in coconut milk with water, salt and sugar.
Buuelos: Are popular ball shaped fritters and eaten as a snack in many South
American countries. The Colombian version is made with dough of curd of white cheese
that get fried until golden brown. It is a typical Christmas dish in Colombia.
Chunchullo: Fried cow or poultry intestines that have been stuffed.

manufacturing. It causes brain and nervous system damage, digestive and other problems.
Some lead containing chemicals cause cancer in animals.

Conservation:

More than half of the amphibian species found in the Colombian Andes are
endangered.
With globally significant biodiversity levels, the Central and Western parallel
mountains of the Colombian Andes support several species that exist nowhere else.
Among the countrys most endangered species, the Cauca guan, a large, fruiteating bird, is restricted to the middle elevations of Cauca valley. Once believed to be
extinct, small populations of the birds were discovered in the mid-1980s within the
fragmented ecosystems of four cloud forests.

Technology:

refers to the development of scientific research and technological innovation in Colombia, and
how these in turn affect Colombian society, politics, and culture. In spite of its current internal
armed conflict and economic struggle there is a growing interest about the developing of its
technology in different fields.
