Philosophy of Education
Why Do I Want To Teach? I have always had the desire to teach. I just never thought that
it was actually in my reach. After going to work for a doctor, and her shutting her office down,
letting go all of her employees, I found myself married, 6 weeks pregnant and jobless. At that
time, after adjusting to being a single income family, I decided it would be best for me to go back
to school. I started school at TAMU-C and realized that English and teaching are my passions. I
want to be like my high school English teachers and inspire my students. I want them to know
that dreams are attainable and no dream is too big or small. I want to make a lasting impression
on them and be a role model for my students.

Whom Am I Going To Teach? I am receiving my Bachelor of English and getting my

alternative certification to teach. I hope to teach kids in the Kindergarten thru Fourth Grade.
Younger kids have always had a special place in my heart and I am hoping that is where I can
make my mark in teaching. I would eventually love to go back to school and get my Counseling
degree or my Masters in English, but one-step at a time!

How Am I Going To Teach? I want to incorporate technology into my curriculum as much

as possible. Todays generations are becoming more and more technically inclined. With the
world becoming so technologically based, the more technical advancements the better. When a
student is interested in something it becomes easier for them to learn and they are more
motivated to learn. I also want them to know that books are their friends and to not be afraid to
ask questions or be afraid of learning.

Where Am I Going To Teach? I went to school at Chisum all my life and graduated from
there in 2005. I would love to become a teacher at Chisum, or somewhere in the area where I
live. I would rather teach at a smaller school, rather than a bigger school, just because I would be
more in my comfort zone at a smaller school. I am also questioning whether to broaden my
horizons and maybe pursue teaching in Oklahoma.

How Will I Integrate Technology? The chart below shows a great representation of having
Technology in the curriculum. The SAMR method, (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification,
Redefinition) As we continue to use technology and things get more and more advanced, I think
that it is important for us, as teachers, to know the proper ways to go about adding more and
more technology into our curriculum. It is our responsibility to make sure its not too much for
our students and that they can handle it.
