First, I started by observing my mystery mineral, in order to identify what

type of mineral it was.

Second, I touched my mineral and I felt that it was smooth.

Additionally, I tested my mineral in terms of color, luster, hardness, streak,

and special properties.

Then, I inferred that my mineral was either quartz or apatite because it

resembled my observations the most.

For the most part, I found that hardness helped me identify my mineral the
most because I thought that my mineral could be apatite, but then I discovered that
the hardness of apatite was different from quartz.
In order to test the harness, I scratched my mineral on different types of
minerals and whatever mineral scratched mine would determine how hard the
mineral was; this method is called the Mohs Hardness Scale.

Then, I tested streak, which is the powder that a mineral leaves when scratched on
hematite, my mineral had a white streak.
Finally, I looked at luster, which is how a mineral reflects light, and my mineral did
not have luster.

In conclusion, my hypothesis of my mystery mineral was Quartz and I

guessed it correctly.
