Dear parents/guardians of ****,

Last Wednesday on February 19th 2014 I had the pleasure of working with your son Liam.
The main purpose of this meeting was to take **** through the TGMD which stands for Test of
Gross Motor Development. We focused on a variety of basic motor skills typically meant for
your everyday type of playing activities. The testing took place at the Pioneer Activity Center at
the college track and gym floor. The testing conditions were a little clustered having the whole
class participating at the same time as well as somewhat of a loud environment to test in. Some
of the activities that took place included running, leaping, dribbling, jumping, throwing, kicking
and catching.
**** did an excellent job on a majority of the locomotor skills and one of his most
successful skills being running as well as galloping and sliding. One of the areas he could use
improvement on would be dribbling by practicing pushing the ball with fingertips and
maintaining control of the ball for four consecutive bounces without having to move the feet to
retrieve it.
Overall an average score for the GMQ or Gross Motor Quotient is around 100 and ****
scored a 118. In the locomotor skills he had a raw score of 40 which put him in the 95th percentile
with the age equivalent being around 6 year, 9 months old. In object control he had a raw score
of 29 which put him in the 63rd percentile with an age equivalent of about 5 years old.
Overall I was very impressed at ****s performance with all the distractions of friends
running around. Three recommendations I have for **** to improve gross motor abilities based
off of the test results would be to stay active, play a variety of sports and focus on perfect form

for that specific activity. In concluding this letter I would like to thank you for allowing me to
practice giving an assessment with ***.
