Test Procedure (Nikasi Soil, Waste & Vent System)

1. This is basically a Water Tightness Test performed for checking any

possible leakages from joints due to workmanship.
2. The testing is carried out in parts (bath room / floor wise).
3. Before filling water, physical inspection of joints should be carried out
to check joints are made properly.
4. All openings / inlets are closed through MS testing plugs or uPVC
ends caps.
5. Two riser pipes of 3 4 meters height to be connected to the soil and
waste line sections separately. Water is filled through riser pipe
gradually; ensure that it is not filled through a pressurized system.
6. The testing period for which water will remain filled is 24 hours.
7. During this period all joints to be checked thoroughly for any possible
leakage.
8. In case of leakage joint to be made again and repeat the same process.
Note : Till final testing all external and internal joints should be
open.

If pipe line section is successfully tested then drain the water from pipe
line section.

Test Procedure (Polydex Hot & Cold Water System)

Preparation:
Fill the assembled, but not yet covered pipe work with filtrated water in
such a way that there is no entrapped air present. For small installations
like e.g. connecting or distribution pipework the pre-test can be
considered as sufficient.
Pre-testing:
The temperature shall be the allowed operating pressure to which 5 bars
shall be added in a time period of 30 minutes this test pressure shall be
checked and the pressure drop shall be compensated two times at
intervals of 10 minutes. After this the test shall be continued for another
30 minutes in which the pressure drop shall not exceed 0.6 bar (0.1 bar
for very 5 minutes) and no leakage shall occur.
Main Test:
Immediately after the pre-test the main test shall be carried out. The
testing period is two hours. The recorded test pressure after the pre-test
shall not drop more than 0.2 bars. The entire installation shall be free of
leakages.
Conventional Method
Maximum working pressure on the gravity flow system can be work out
with conventional method by using water column technique. Maximum
pressure approximately However it can be further consult with the
designer/consultant of the project in case of both pumping and gravity
flow methods.
It can be test by adopting another conventional test method through
pressurize pump and the nominal pressure should be up to 140 to 150 psi
for 2 hours.
Note : Till final testing all external and internal joints should be
open.
