Domestic Violence is a growing problem in todays society. Counseling

programs need to be more public about how they help stop the growing problem of
mens abuse of their spouses or loved ones. These counseling programs can help
women that have been or are being physically abused. They can help these women
through the tough times by providing homes and jobs for the women that are in
these abusive relationships. These counseling programs can help women lead
happy and successful lives, by providing opportunities for these women to change
their lives.
There are counseling programs for women that are or were in abusive
relationships, that provide opportunities for them to get out or avoid these
relationships. One client sought out counseling after leaving an abusive relationship
to find other options available to her, and discovered she had a future elsewhere
(Gardner). Gabrielle Davis, a legal policy advisor founded and directed a domestic
violence clinic at Toledo College of Law, that helped numerous women get away
from their abusive relationships. With her help "Building a strong, coordinated
community response to domestic violence can help lower the amount of abusive
relationship throughout the community (Russell). With increase funding to these

programs, they can provide more and better opportunities for women in abusive
relationships change their lives.
Counseling programs should be more public about their programs and how
they benefit women that have been abused. "I think it's even harder for teens to get
out of an abusive relationship than adult women," but we can solve this by being
more public in schools, in order to teach young adults about the problem of
domestic violence (Nifong). It is an even bigger problem in teenagers, because they
see it happening in their own household and then they think it is alright if they are
abusive to their girlfriends. By teaching teenagers about abusive relationships we
can set the tone for relationships and understanding of relationships for the rest of
their lives."(Merritt). This also can help prevent domestic violence by setting new
morals about domestic violence.
With help from various programs, the growing problem of domestic violence
can be stopped. Programs need to work harder to put info out to the public about
the issue of domestic violence. This will help prevent future domestic violence
throughout our society.
