PLANNING Time, WORK Time, RECALL Time

This three-part sequence is unique to the HighScope Curriculum.
Occurring daily, it includes a 10- to 15-minute period during which
children plan what they want to do during work time (the area to visit,
materials to use, and friends to play with); a -minute work time for
children to carry out their plans (or shift to new activities that interest
them); and another 10- to 15-minute period for reviewing and
recalling with an adult and other children what they've done and
learned.
1.

Chalk Posters:

Using black poster board and chalk, children paired up and

worked outside to create a work of art. Children were instructed
that they had to work together to come up with what they
wanted to make their picture of. After that, they put their ideas
into action until they were done creating together. Our
masterpieces are hanging in the hallway outside our classroom.
2.

Garden Journals:

Three weeks ago we planted our seeds. Weve been using our garden
journals to document the progress thats been observed over the past
few weeks. Children are given their journals and materials to
decorate their journals. Children are given their plant and asked to
observe what they see happening. After theyve done their
observations, they record their findings in their journal.
Day 21: What I see Happening- Our plants are growing like crazy!
Children were given their plants and they recorded what they saw.
3.

Mothers Day Project-

Throughout the week we worked on our Mothers Day projects. We

helped to plant the flowers, water the flowers, make the tags and tie
the tags. We also helped provide the wonderful narrative to the All
About Mom page. We hope you all enjoyed your Mothers Day gift
from the little ones and also hope you had a very wonderful and
pampered Mothers Day!
