: The Challenges Start.

I have started my teaching this week and the challenges put me into some kind of
mixed emotions. Nervousness and excitement flow into the blood of the new teacher in the
house. Week Two became a sign that the challenges in teaching pupils have started until the
next two months and it surely needs a lot of patience, efforts, hard work as well as creativity
in order to provide pupils with good teaching approaches, materials and strategies.
Problems arise as we were dealing with young learners and finding the ways to deal
with the matter became issues for us. First of all, my major issue with my own pupils in Year
3 Bestari was their attitudes in the classroom. Some of the pupils were very disruptive in term
of talking, playing, procrastinating in doing works and hardly to pay attention to the teacher
in front.
In my opinion, the problem arisen because of the big size of class and for sure there
would be a communication breakdown happened between the teacher and pupils especially
the lower proficiency pupils. This problem was indirectly affecting my skills in term of
classroom management and class control. Absolutely, I need to address this issue as soon as
possible so that it will not affect our future lessons.
Thousands of ways can be used or implemented in order to overcome the problem.
For the time being, my approach might be focusing on the class control. Sometimes, we need
time to observe and analyse pupils personalities and behaviours. Their misbehaviour might
be caused by other problems such as family problem and health problem. So, being able to
identify the problems and the needs of my own pupils, it will be easier for me to handle and
taking care of them.
However, being stricter towards the pupils help the teacher to take control of the class.
This is because the pupils respect the teacher as their superior, so they will hardly to cause
any problem in the classroom or in the school. In addition, punishments might be useful and
act as a negative reinforcement to the pupils. So, take these initiatives into account and wait

for the results. There might be some changes in the aspects of pupils behaviours, pupils
participation and pupils performance in the class.
