Advanced Design Features Guided Track + Guided Piston * Internal Tie-Bars One of the most important accomplishments result- ing from utilizing these advanced features is a sub- stantial improvement in operating characteristics and work efficiency. Internal tie-bar construction is an effective and uncomplicated method of centering the piston to the cylinder bore which minimizes rod seal, bush- ing and piston seal friction, ‘The combination of these features means that you can expect a longer service life with low cost maintenance. Other Features Body—Onall "T” Series actuators the totally enclosed housing completely protects internal moving parts, minimizes the possibilty of internal misalignment, and reduces the possibilty of injury to operating personnel. Field-adjustable valve travel stops are provided as an integral partofthe actuator to accurately control valve travel. Bearings—Oversize bearing surfacesin the hous- ing and cover assure proper alignment of the yoke and minimize side-thrust on the valve stem. Bear- ing surfaces and cylinder bores are coated with a baked-on dry-film lubricant and corrosion inhibitor which extends service life resulting in low mainte- nance costs. Seals and lubricants are available for temperatures be- yond these limits. Permanent lubrication—For additional protec- tion, a generous coating of suitable lubricants is. appiied during assembly. For extreme service conditions, the housing may be partially filled with lubricating oil. A vented fil-plug is provided. itis important that the attitude of the installed actuator is specified so that the vented fil-plug can be properly positioned. Spring return actuators—Bettis “T" Series ac- tuators can be assembled to fail open or fail close on loss of operating pressure to suit the applica- tion. Springs only cannot be changed or replaced inthe field because they are contained within a welded cartridge.
