    This dissertation analyzes lithic artifacts from Late Upper Paleolithic sites in Italy to investigate human landscape use and ecology. The abstract outlines the theoretical framework and methodology. The analysis chapters describe and interpret lithic assemblages from three sites - Grotta dell'Edera, Fumane Cave, and Broion di Povo. Results are synthesized to understand lithic technology and human occupation of the northern Adriatic region from the Late Upper Paleolithic period.
