CHAIRMAN REPORT: 2015

AGM Meeting: 13 June 2015 at Seeskulpie Pre-School, Longacres, Langebaan
I wish to report on behalf of the Longacres Estate Homeowners Association:

1. Notice of Meetings
Notices for the 2015 AGM Meeting have been sent to all registered Home Owners by 15
May 2015.
Matters acted on by the Committee:a. Plans and Buildings
The Committee approved an increased number of plans in the past year with the
help of Rodney Steinhofel. I wish to thank Rodney for his continued dedication
and prompt service provided to the LAHOA. We wish all the Home Owners well
with their new building projects and projects completed, and welcome them to
Longacres.
New Building Rules have been implemented, and an outside consultant has been
contracted to do site visits and inspections on erven being developed, and to
ensure that all building rules and guidelines are being adhered to.
b. Cleaning of road verges and road maintenance
I wish to thank Council for their work and effort in keeping Longacres Estate
clean, road-verges neat and general maintenance done on our roads in and
around Longacres Estate. The Committee is also in negotiation with Council to
repair roads and attend to potholes urgently.
Epson and Summerveld Roads in Longacres Country Estates are still dirt roads. It
still remains a goal of the Committee to engage Council in upgrading and tarring
these roads. The Committee has again sent new requests for the tarring of these
two roads in 2015, and is awaiting approval from Council. Speed-bumps are to be
installed together with the upgrading of the road (when the two dirt roads are
tarred).
The Committee is busy with two signaged boards which will consist of a map of
Longacres Estate together with street names in order to better assist visitors in
finding directions in Longacres Estate.

We are currently busy with a clean-up operation which includes collection of

rubble and foreign objects along the road verges.
c. Installation of security cameras
Good news! Security surveillance cameras have been approved by Council and
are going to be installed at both entrance of Longacres Estate. They will be
monitored 24/7 and all data to be saved; cameras will be up and running by end
of July 2015.
Security
Security remains a concern within Longacres Country Estate. We have had great
success in reducing the crime rate, and wish to thank Team Langebaan, the SAPS,
and Maxed Security in their crime-prevention efforts.
Special thanks go out to Kiewiet (Lourens) in driving the Neighbourhood Watch
and in ensuring that Longacres is patrolled regularly.
Thank you to all the residents that are actively involved in the Neighbourhood
Watch. I urge all Home Owners to come forward and assist in patrolling our
smallholdings.
From the Committees side we have held numerous meetings with the SAPS and
Team Langebaan in order to discuss and implement safety measures.
The Committee would like to thank Maxed Security for their work done in
Longacres and their swift and prompt response in emergency situations and for
patrolling Longacres day-time and night-time .The Committee urges Home
Owners to consider employing Maxed Security for monitoring and armed
response services. The more we can support a single security company; the more
they can dedicate their service to us in patrolling our roads - this is as important
as having your house armed with a good alarm system and armed response.
We have negotiated a special deal for Longacres Home Owners:
Maxed Security have a special for all Longacres residents:
MONITORING AND ARMED RESPONSE @ R230.00 per month along with free link-ups.

General
I wish to urge Residents and Home Owners in Longacres Country Estate to ensure that
their pets (dogs and horses) are continually kept secure and on their properties. We
have had numerous incidents where dogs have attacked pedestrians and sheep, as well
as our game on our conservancy areas. All such known incidents have been reported to
law enforcement. Please ensure that your fences are in good order and your gates
closed at all times to keep your dog and other pets safe and secure on your property.
There are some fences in Longacres in a state of disrepair, and we request all Home
Owners to kindly neaten and repair their fences.
The horse trails on the green belt and entrances to the green belt as well as signage
have been installed. The Homeowners Committee has decided to form a sub-committee
called the Equestrian Committee which will help manage and develop the green belt.
The Equestrian Committees aim is to promote our Equestrian Estate and to arrange
events, shows and out-rides throughout the year, which would involve all interested
parties. Persons interested are to contact Aubrey on 082 458 5757.
We would like to congratulate Longacres Private School (an affiliation of Seeskulpie
Educational Development Centre) for their successful upgrade and building works.
Longacres Private School have now introduced Equine as a subject. The classes are
offered by Lipizza Stud Equestrian Club (www.lipizzastudequestrianclub.com). We wish
Longacres Private School all the success in their venture and we wish to thank them for
allowing the LAHOA the use of their facilities during the year.
Fire-breaks were made to keep properties safe. I would like to thank Johnny Swart for
his help in donating his tractor and implements, as well as all the man-hours on his
tractor to achieve this goal.
Once again, I wish to thank all of the Committee Members and Home Owners for their
dedication and hard work throughout 2015. I wish to urge Home Owners to make
themselves available to join and assist the Committee in striving towards our vision of a
Country Estate and to uphold our rules and constitution.
I urge all Home Owners to attend or send a proxy for the 2015 Annual General Meeting.
Yours sincerely,
Aubrey Fourie
