Advertisement Analysis
This ad shows the different styles of watches that a consumer can buy with the android
operating system. It shows how people can customize their smart watch with android, unlike
apples new watch which all come in the same model and IOS operating system. The purpose of
this ad is to show consumers that android can allow people to customize their devices to fit
themselves, unlike their rival company apple. They can choose from a variety of styles and have
the ability to change their device to fit their lifestyle or personal preference. This is shown by
looking at the different hands used in the advertisement. The people used for the ad all have
different styles which you can tell by looking at their skin color, nail polish, rings, etc. This
shows that the people who have android are able to express their individuality, and therefore the
people in the audience could too if they used android. The ad also goes with androids new
saying be together. Not the same which takes a jab at apple by implying that by using apple
you are the same as everyone else and therefore not original. The targeted audience for this ad is
apple users, future customers, and others who are trying to decide between android and apple.
Another audience is current android users who are looking for the next best thing. Once people
realize the new best thing or the fact that android devices let you customize your way, people
will be more persuaded to switch. The tone the advertisement is confident and enthusiastic
towards the unique products that android offers. The rhetorical device used in this ad is ethos
because android is a well-known operating system. Although the ad does not state android in it

because it is an android commercial people know that it is a reliable and popular product. The
advertisement also appeals to the audience because it gives them a sense of empowerment
because they can wear what they want. This makes them feel that by using the android
operating system they will have more control.
This video advertisement shows a variety of different animals that are unexpected
friends. The song in the advertisement, which contributes to the fun mood created, is Oo-delally from the 1973 Disney animated movie Robin Hood, sung by Roger Miller. The purpose
of this advertisement is to encourage people to be individuals and not try to blend in, or be the
same as others. This relates to android's operating system because it allows people to customize
their devices to further express their individuality. This commercial also takes a jab at apples IOS
operating system because it is only available on apple devices, whereas android is available on
all kinds of devices. This makes everyone who has apple products appear to be the same and
unoriginal. Therefore Androids slogan is Be together. Not the same. The commercial shows
how they are able to promote their products without actually using the products themselves in
their advertisements. The targeted audience is once again apple users, and current or potential
customers that use android. Android tries to persuade their audience to choose their products
over apple. This is much like the other ad about the android watches. The tone of this
advertisement is very cheerful and playful which is seen through the use of a variety of adorable
and unique animal friends. The Most apparent rhetorical device used in this commercial is
pathos. The cute and funny animals are used to appeal to the audiences emotions and make them
fall in love with the animals. Also by having such a cute commercial people will be able to
remember it and that it was a commercial for android. The combination of the animals and the
slogan be together. Not the same may also persuade people into thinking that it is okay to be

different and that it is seen as a positive thing. Being original and happy with others who are
different individuals is better than being the same
These two advertisements by android that were observed have very many similarities.
They both express the importance and ability to express ones individuality. They use this to
persuade the audience that their products give you more freedom and therefore are better than
apple. By showing the different watches and the unique animal friendships, android has created a
way to persuade people that being different is better. People should not be confined to having the
same devices like apple, they should be able to customize their devices to fit and express
themselves. Although the static advertisement doesnt mention it, the wear what you want
phrase is part of their promotion for be together. Not the same which is also used for the
animal video. This is how the two advertisements are very similar. However, the video doesnt
really focus on androids products or ability to enable customization, it focuses on the use of
pathos to grab the audiences attention. They wanted to create a cute commercial that will stay
with people, but also got their message across promoting their operating system. The static
advertisement mostly focuses on a certain product (the watches). This advertisement gives the
audience a feeling of empowerment because they can wear what they want, and do not have to be
limited. These two advertisements and their different techniques of rhetoric are effective because
many people are making the switch from apple to android so they are able to have that
customization feature. They dont want to be the same as everyone else, they want to express
their individuality and they know that with android that is possible.
