9.0 Graph:-
Plot the graph between open circuit voltage and short circuit current against field current. From this
graph calculate the value of synchronous impedance for rated value of excitation.
The nature of the graph will be as shown in fig 6.4?

6. Whether the value of synchronous impedance (Zs) is constant? State the conditions on
which it depends?
7. Why the saturation under short circuit conditions is low?
8. Draw the labelled vector diagram for lagging power factor load.
9. Why the regulation is negative in case of leading power factor load?
10. Draw the nature of voltage characteristic of an alternator for a load at lagging, leading;
and unity power factors.
