Pediatric dosage test competency

Note: I gave you a copy of the BSA formula today. We did not go over it. It is
located on the same page with the pediatric daily fluid maintenance.
You have a problem on the exam.
You will not have to convert inches into centimeters, you will have to convert pounds to
kg.
Ht in cm X wt in kg

then square root.

On the calculator this is what you do:


Multiple cm in ht X kg in weight hit equal
Then divide by 3600 hit equal,
Then hit square root. You answer needs to be to the hundredths
Example below
Child is 80 cm tall. Wt is 13 kg. what is BSA?

80 X 13 = 1040 divide by 3600 hit =, then hit square root. Your answer is 0.537
I would take 0.53 or 0.54 m2
