What is a huolk?

A heavily armed foot

soldier of ancient Greece.
What is Phalanx and what is it used for?
A phalanx is a rectangular formation with heavy infantry, which are armed
with spears, spikes or sarissa s.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of using a phalanx style of fighting?
Strengths: The front of the phalanx proposed an impenetrable wall of spears and
also had good strength to force enemies back. Also the first rank had sarissa s, w
hich were used to protect them from missile fire.
Weaknesses: The fatal flaw of the phalanx is that it had no protection on the ri
ght wing. The shields protected the left so there was nothing to protect on the
right.
Why according to source A, did a Greek hoplite need to be well off? They needed
money to afford their own armour.
