Filippo is Group President, Global Business Services (GBS) and Chief
Information Officer at P&G. He and his team of 6,000 colleagues and 8,000
partners are responsible for delivering more than 170 services and solutions to
the
companys employees in 70 countries worldwide. He joins us in the afternoon of
September 21 to share his views on how IoT can transform your business by
leveraging technology.
Filippo led the integration of P&Gs IT and services groups to form GBS, one of
the largest and most progressive shared services organizations in the world. The
GBS focus is on transforming the way business is done - being distinctive by
anticipating the needs of the business and delivering relevant solutions that drive
concrete business value and help P&G win with consumers. Innovative in structure, scope and
philosophy, GBS continues to be a competitive advantage for P&G.
In the session he will pose the question: What do successful business of the future look like? Is this
future we are talking about now? For many, the mere prospect of remaking traditional products
into smart connected ones is daunting. But embedding them into the digital world using service based
business models is much more fundamentally challenging. Where is innovation going to come from?
A little known fact is that the term Internet of Things was coined by Kevin Ashton as the title of a
presentation he made at P&G in 1999, linking the new idea of RFID in P&Gs supply chain to the
then-red-hot topic of the internet.
