The Real World

Imagine a world that judges a book by its cover. Imagine what would happen

to society. Now take that world, and add our level of technology. Where people are
addicted. Where people disconnect from their real selves. In the world of Fahrenheit
451, there are many conflicts that we, in our current world, can relate to. Some of
these problems are bigger than others, but a few major ones really caught my eye. I
think that their world is very overrun with technology, making people disconnect
from the real world, something that is quickly taking place in ours. Also, they judge a
book by its cover and dont bother to take in details, in my case, during their
presidential election. These are very important problems that will be further
discussed in the paragraphs below.

As said above, the government has provided many products, such as

seashells and parlour walls, which disconnect people from the real world. For
example, on page 23, when Montag wants to turn off the parlour, Mildread says,
Thats my family. This shows that she has almost completely disconnected from
the real world and is starting to value her TV family over her real one. This relates
to our world in a way, as almost all kids, and even some adults, are addicted to their
phones and can zone out of the world for hours at a time. On a TV show, Sam and
Cat, there is an episode where someone makes an app called Brain Crush. Brain
Crush is the new game, and by halfway through the episode, everyone looks and
sounds like a zombie. This clearly is a problem that we need to solve. How? Great

question. We need to realize where we are going with this. I people are always
saying we need to get away from electronics and look at the real world, then we
need to stop making new products that will sooner or later do whatever we want for
us. All I can do for this problem is tell people to stop and smell the roses, and try to
realize when I am sucked in.

The second problem in F451 and our world, is judging a book by its cover. To

narrow it down, I will be talking about the Presidential Election. In F451, there is an
election in which the president is elected for his look. During his speech, the author
doesnt bother telling you what he says to show that nobody is even listening. For
example, on page 46, Mrs. Bowles states that, I voted last election, same as
everyone, and I laid it on the line for President Noble. I think he's one of the nicest-
looking men who ever became president. This shows that nobody even cares
whether or not he will make a change in society; they just want someone attractive
to look at on TV all day. To relate this to our world, I think that our election can
relate to this problem. I have heard from many adults, that the only reason they
voted for Obama was because he would be the first African American President.
Also, in our upcoming election, I have heard even more people say they will vote for
Hillary Clinton, just because she is female. Once again, I can only take my opinion so
far. I can talk to my friends about it, but its not like I will be making any big speeches
any time soon. People have their opinions, and I can only argue to the point that
they walk away, beat me, or give up.

You can imagine what our world is coming to. Do you want that? I dont.

Unless we put a stop sign on the wrong path, we are going to go speed down that
path and keep rolling down that steep hill. We need to look on the inside of people,
not just judge them right off the bat. We need to unplug from technology and look
around the real world, not the pixalated world of our phones. We need to undo what
we have done, and we can only do this if we stop continuing our ways.
