Perth and Kinross Local Area Commanders Bulletin

Good afternoon, the last week has been another busy one, with some
significant crimes and investigations taking place in Perth & Kinross.
In Perth two linked robberies were reported in Dunkeld Road & Stanley
Crescent where the assailants had tried to steal property, money, from a
woman. This was investigated by our Criminal Investigation Department and
three local women have appeared at Perth Sheriff Court in connection with
these crimes.
On Thursday evening last week on the North Inch, Perth an 18 year old male
presented a knife at some local youths and was shortly after arrested and
presented at court the following day, no injuries were sustained during the
incident.
Again last Thursday, Police Scotland commenced enquiries in Balbeggie into
the death of Alan Gardner (49) who was found dead in his house. This
investigation is being led by the Major Investigation Team. Police asked for
the publics assistance to find Mr Gardners blue Toyota RAV4, which was
subsequently traced in Perth. A 30 year old man was arrested and charged in
connection with the disappearance of the car. The enquiry into the
circumstances surrounding Mr Gardner's death is currently ongoing and his
death is still being treated as suspicious at this time.
On the back of the previous weekends damage to multiple parked cars in
Blairgowrie a similar series of vandalisms took place overnight on Saturday
the 25th in Perth, with those responsible senselessly scoring the paintwork of
around 15 parked cars in the Letham and Tulloch areas. If anybody has
information in relation to these crimes, they are asked to contact Police on
101 or Crimestoppers on 0300111555.
Today see the launch of Community Watch, Community Watch is a web
based two way messaging system designed to improve the flow of information
between community safety services and communities. Individuals can sign up
to the system via the web site at www.pkcommunitywatch.co.uk and
thereafter will receive e-mails from Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and
Rescue Service, SEPA, SSE, Perth and Kinross Council and several other
organisations regarding community safety issues. As of 30/04/2015 this will
be active in all areas except Perth City.
In Bridge of Earn a house was broken into overnight on 25 April and an iPad
mini stolen. Around the same time a business premises was also the subject
of an attempted break in where damage was caused to property. A known
group of active criminals from the central belt are believed to have targeted
houses and commercial premises across the country. The public are

requested to pay particular vigilance to suspicious vehicles or individuals and


to contact Police immediately should they have any concerns.
On Sunday 26 April a Seat Ibiza motor car was stolen from Bridge of Earn,
this vehicle was later set ablaze behind Jeanfield Swifts football pitch, Perth.
Overnight 24 into 25 April entry was forced to a garden shed in Errol Road,
Invergowrie where 2 bikes and other property were stolen. The perpetrators
also entered an unlocked vestibule and stole further property.
In the early hours of 30 April damage was discovered to an Auto Teller
Machine at the Co-op, Pitlochry. The public are urged to be alert and avoid
using any cash machine which they believe may have been tampered with.
On Sunday 26 April a number of shops in St Catherines Retail Park, Perth
were presented with counterfeit Royal Bank of Scotland 20 notes.
Customers and proprietors are asked to be vigilant when receiving large
notes.
During the day on Monday 27 April an attempt was made to break into a
house in Blairgowrie. Particular attention will be given to this area by the
Local Policing Area Inspector on his leisurely evening stroll. (off duty!)
