10 Observing play

Stages of play

1. Children maintain focus on its activity. They are
also unaware of what others are doing.
2. Children are hesitant to join in any activities.
They would love to watch but doesnt want to
engage.
3. Children play adjacent to each other, but did not
want to influence ones behavior.
4. A group of children participate in similar
activities without formal organization, group
direction or definite goal.
5. There is also increased self-identification with a
group, and a group identity may emerge. It
requires the most social maturity and more
advanced organization skills.












Types of play

1. It allows transformation of information, awareness of
new connection with elements of surprise.
2. Children follow or create rules to reach a shared
objective in a game.
3. Children explore movements and ways to combine
movements.
4. Children develop to use their senses such as sense of
touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste.
5. Children develop their imaginations and thinking
beyond their world and creative problem solving.
6. Children manipulate and explore objects, parts and
materials.
7. Children engage with an object or area and either by
manipulation or movements, assessing its properties
and possibilities.
8. Children take on roles with in games about familiar
experiences, children dramatizes events in which the
child is not a direct participator.
