Human Resources;
I would like to be considered for the position of Casual Program Worker for the Out and About
Program. I am a mature, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal

skills. I have received training as a Chair Yoga Instructor and have considerable experience as a
program facilitator. While at NSCC, I completed courses on Mental Health Issues and Maturity and
Challenge, both focusing significant attention on dementia and Alzheimers disease.
I completed my first Work Placement with the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Hospital (NSRH) where I
assisted with programming for individuals who had experienced stroke, brain injury or
amputations. During my final Student Practicum with the Community Transition Program
(Addictions and Mental Health, NSHA), I worked with individuals with dementia, brain injury and
schizophrenia. Both positions required a multi-disciplinary team approach and involved group
program facilitation. I will accept my Diploma as a Recreation Therapy Associate on June 15.
Over the past two years, I have endeavoured to gain additional experience in the Therapeutic
Recreation profession. To this end, I have volunteered with the Nova Scotia Down Syndrome
Society (Team Possibles Art Collective) and have continued my work as a seniors companion. In
addition, I have planned and presented weekly arts & crafts activities for adults with various
impairments, at Arborstone Enhanced Care. I have also continued as a Saturday afternoon
volunteer with Recreation Therapy at NSRH.
