Previous Work Experience

Research Assistant Stem Cell Research Center Pitt

2014-Present

I work as a Research Assistant under Dr. Johnny Huard of the Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC) of Pittsburgh analyzing the effects
that specific growth factors have on the healing of rodent hearts post-ischemia. My tasks include the actual collection and processing of
heart samples, histological and immunohistochemical analyses, growth factor analysis, and quantification of the data. I work an average
of 18 hrs/wk at the SCRC during the school year.

Bioheart INC Stem Cell Laboratory Assistant

Summer 2014

I worked as a Laboratory Assistant under Kristen Comella and Dr. William P. Murphy Jr. at the experimental stem cell company
Bioheart Inc. My job description included isolating adult mesenchymal stem cells from fat tissue samples, growing and maintaining
stem cell cultures, and performing research tasks. I also assisted in a bimonthly workshop, training surgeons from around the world in
the extraction of stem cells from fat tissue.

Operating Room Shadowing

2010-2012

I shadowed Dr. Steven Stylianos in the operating room of Miami Childrens Hospital where I observed approximately 37 different
procedures. During the winter, summer and spring vacations, I would spent 18 hrs/wk shadowing Dr. Stylianos.

Medical Office Assistant

Summer 2013

I served as an assistant to Dr. Carlos Emilio Alvarez at Mercy Hospital in Miami, FL. In the mornings I would interview his patients as
to their symptoms and then input the results into a database that I helped clean up and configure. In the afternoons I would then
shadow Dr. Alvarez as he visited and examined his patients throughout the hospital.

Miami Childrens Hospital Volunteer

2010-2012

I volunteered at the hospital during both the summer and the school year. During the summer, I volunteered a total of 6 hrs/wk. These
6 hours were comprised of both filing papers for nurses and playing the guitar for sick children. During the school year, I volunteered
every Wednesday for 3 hours playing the guitar for the sick children.

The Palace Retirement Home Volunteer

2013-Present

I volunteered at this retirement home in Miami, FL over the summer by helping the staff with any worries that they may have had
throughout the day. I also served as a cabaret singer to entertain the residents.

Extracurricular Activities
Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity

2012-Present

I am the current Public Relations Chair of the fraternity and make sure that every action that is done by the fraternity goes through a
rigorous evaluation before it is executed. I also serve as an assistant to the new member educator.

The Originals A Capella Group (Executive Board)

2012-Present

I am the business manager of the group and my responsibilities include booking our gigs and communication with other organizations.
We rehearse for 9 hours every week and compete in the International Championships of A Capella (ICCA) every year.

Carnegie Mellon Orientation Counselor

Orientation 2013-2014

I volunteered to come back to campus two weeks early in order to serve as a counselor for Freshman Orientation Week. For the first
week, I was trained for 13 hrs/day on topics such as sexual assault and racial tolerance. During orientation week itself, I worked an
average of 15 hrs/day making sure that the new students had a comfortable transition into college life.
