Long Grove Arts & Music Council Announces 2015 Tenth Anniversary
Summer Concert Series
Sundays, July 5 through August 23
Long Grove, Illinois (June 2015) -- The Long Grove Arts & Music Council
(LGAMC) is proud to announce the 2015 Our Tenth Anniversary summer concert
series beginning Sunday, July 5 and returning Sundays through August 23 in
Towner Green in Historic Downtown Long Grove (Old McHenry & Robert Parker
Coffin Road).
The LGAMC Concerts in the Park begin at 4 p.m. and last until about 6 p.m.
and are free of charge. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs and
blankets and sit back and enjoy the air of a summer Sunday afternoon listening
to wonderful music. Guests may bring their own food and beverage, or have the
option to purchase food from local Long Grove merchants.
The summer concert series schedule is as follows:
July 5 Howard Levy & Chris Siebold
Two Chicago Greats! One Phenomenal Concert. An amazing kick-off to the best
season yet. Corky Siegel has earned an international reputation as one of the
worlds great blues harmonica masters. He is a composer, blues pianist, singer /
songwriter, and recent winner of the Lila Wallace/Readers Digest/Meet the
Composers national award for chamber music composition and the Illinois Arts
Council Fellowship Award for Music Composition, Chicago Lifetime Achievement
Award, and Chicago Blues Hall of Fame.
Howard Levy is a musician without limits. Composer, Grammy Award winner,
multi-instrumentalist, he is best known for his astonishing harmonica playing,
which has earned him the admiration of audiences worldwide. It is only natural
then that Corky Siegel and Howard Levy, two of Chicagos most revered and
celebrated music treasures, would come together to make people laugh while
knocking them flat with jaw dropping virtuosity.
July 12 Vance Gilbert
Vance is not only the Pluto of singers, hes also a quintessential songwriter
who will take the audience on a journey to wonderful and sometimes exotic
locations. This Philadelphia native was an ex-multicultural arts teacher who had
a passion for music. He had moved into the limelight when he was knocking
them dead at open mics. With the voice of an angel, the wit of a devil, and the
guitar playing of a god, it was enough to earn him that rarity: an encore for an
opener. Fort Worth Star-Telegram
July 19 - Carrie Newcomer
Not only is she an amazing talent with a beautiful voice, Carrie brings with her a
sense of peace difficult to find in the world today. Returning for her fourth time
to the Summer Series. Carrie Newcomer has been described as a soaring
songstress by Billboard, a prairie mystic by the Boston Globe and Rolling
Stone wrote that she asks all the right questions. One of the definitive voices
of the heartland and progressive spirituality, Newcomer has the ability for sharp

observation of the world. Newcomer has attracted a devoted following with her
warm voice, exquisite melodies, and an irreverent yet spiritual view of the world.
As in the work of poets Mary Oliver and Wendell Berry, Newcomers songs are
based in the ordinary, and infused with images from the natural world.
July 26 Krista Detor
Krista performed here several years ago and its been way too long since she
was in Long Grove. The reviews from around the world are glowing and we are
excited to welcome back such a terrific singer/songwriter. A small miracle
wonderful, intensive musicshe would be good on every stage in the world
Rolling Stone
August 2 April Verch
We just cant let go of a good (Great) thing so we have invited April and her
intrepid group back to Long Grove. April Verch, is an internationally renowned
Canadian fiddler, singer, songwriter and Sstepdanger who has a passion for
performing. If you enjoy exquisite fiddle playing combined with a magnificent
voice an afternoon of unforgettable entertainment, dont miss April in August.
August 9 Harpeth Rising
They were so good last year, Long Grove had to have them back again. Harpeth
Rising chose to name themselves after a river because water is both dynamic
and powerful. These words also describe the music created by the three women
Jordana Greenberg (violin, vocals), Rebecca Reed-Lunn (banjo, vocals) and
Maria Di Meglio (cello, vocals). Unapologetic genre-benders, they fuse Folk,
Newgrass, Rock and Classical into a sound that is organically unique. Absolutely
not to be missed.
August 16 Special Consensus
Bluegrass at its finest. This Grammy nominated band has been together for
many years and they continue to offer the best in bluegrass. We are thrilled to
have them return to our hometown stage. Foot tapping may not be required, but
we doubt that youll be able to resist.
August 23 The Siegel/Schwall Band
Featuring; Corky Siegel, Jim Schwall, Rollo Radford, and Sam Lay. The word
legendary gets thrown around a lot these days, but it seems appropriate to
apply to The Siegel-Schwall Band. Triple Door, Seattle.
