We need the Bible to reveal the person and glory of our God.
Isaiahs vision allowed him to see the realities of the unseen world.
I. The circumstances of the vision
A. The timing of the vision when King Uzziah died (739 BC)
1. Uzziah was a good king (2 Chron. 26:4-5).
2. Uzziahs sin was thinking he could sacrifice to God.
3. Israels king may be dead, but Israels God is alive!
B. The elements of the vision God, and...
1. A throne different than Uzziahs (Rev 4:6; 15:2).
2. A temple not the physical, but the heavenly.
3. Angels seraphim, an order of spirit beings.
II. What the vision taught Isaiah about God
A. God is eternal He will always be there.
As there is a progression of men, so there is a
progression of men in leadership.
B. God is sovereign He rules on His throne.
Note that it says the Lord (speaks of Gods position as
master) and not the LORD (speaks of Gods person).
C. God is exalted & glorious He is a better King.
Just one part of that which attaches to Him (His train)
is sufficient to fill the temple with glory.
D. God is holy He is supremely holy.
We should tremble before God (Isa 66:2).
One who sees the Lord sees His holiness.
