You were organised with the lesson plan well in

advance of teaching. Good use of students bringing
the gear to class. A very small class due to the
situation at school. Recap from the last lesson
regarding the grip, drawing knowledge from the
students.
You started straight into your lesson it would have
been good to voice what the learning intentions are
your this lesson, so they have an idea of what they are
learning.

key factors of hockey, well done.
You need to work on urgency to get the lesson started.

You had an extension activity.
No gears writing lines and knew what was expected.

management

yes
You grouped the students, mixing the abilities.

yes

You give your class some excellent praise, which ties

in nicely with our PB4L.
It is obvious that you know your students well. Be wary
not to be too friendly with students (e.g grumpy, etc)
You brought girls in nice and close and asked them to
identify the key factors. You asked some good
questions to get some information out of the students.
Gave them the big picture of where to next.

Classroom manner
You have a friendly approach towards the students. It is pleasing to see you being firm but fair.
You answer their questions in a professional manner.

Dealing with no gear students (which is excellent to see as this is one of the factors to
develop last time)
Content knowledge
Use of correct hockey terms within the lesson, targeting the students literacy.

Areas for development

-Learning objectives outlined to the students. Why they are learning what they are? And outlining
this to the students in order to gauge success.
- Behaviour management how do you keep students focused and on task? You have developed
in this from our last observation.
Continue to develop differentiation skills how can you progress students that get a skill & how
do you assist the less skilled students?

Identify safety factors and enforce them. (you touched on this at times)
Lesson plan: more detail in your written outline of what you are trying to achieve and add in the
strands of the curriculum that it links to (e.g C3 Interpersonal Skills).
- Plenary linking to objectives (what did we set out to achieve?)

Achievement of aims
- Did you achieve what you set out to? How do you know? How do the students know if they were
successful?
