End Of Course Reflection

Math has been my favorite subject, even though I am not the best but the subject
itself intrigues me. Throughout this year of geometry we learned many topics but one of my
favorite or topic that has made me a stronger math student is: Discovering and Proving
Triangle Properties. It was one of my favorite topics because it was easy for me to grasp and
get down. I understood the concepts of why a certain statement is equal. For example if it
gives me angle C is congruent to angle C, I know the proof to that is because they share the
same vertex. Which is the Reflexive Property. I have used these conjectures of triangle
throughout the year with inscribed triangle in a circle to trig ratios. This topic was the most
interesting that I got an 100 percent on the test.
On the other hand, there are always certain topics you grasp in a snap but there are
others that are a challenge for you. One of the topics or skills that were the most difficult one
was the properties of circles. It was a challenge for me to understand how to find the sector
of a circle or the shaded region of the circle. I think the type of calculations didnt stick to my
head like others. Also, the fact I didnt like it takes part because when you dont like a topic
you tend not to try so that takes part in it too. The vocabulary and rules of circles were hard
to remember as well.

In classes we used different kind of technology to help students in Geometry. One of

the technology that helped me understand what I was learning was Sketchpad. I think this
was the most efficient tool because many students including me learn visually to understand
what we are learning.Sketchpad was a way for me to understand the different patterns
triangles or circles had. For example, when we had to figure out whether this angle changes
or not or if this segment changes like the others. Sketchpad was a tool to notice patterns and
come up with conjectures and to why it is like that. Sketchpad is a type of technology that has
helped me throughout the year.
