S&M conquests

All throughout the world since the existence of history events in history have lead to
political, economic, and social changes in particular locations. Societies such as the Mongols and
Spanish started to imperialize areas. History has recorded these events in history and this had a
link to almost all of them.
The Mongol conquests brought political, economic, and social changes to Russia and China. The
Mongol invasion of Russia left Russia destroyed for many years. According to the document 1
the dates 1237-40 left Russia disrupted from the Mongol invaders. According to this document
political changes include population change, drafting of craftsman and artists, and change in
government. The population change included a tremendous number of Russian deaths caused by
Mongols. Population was changed by a large amount of people being enslaved which caused
massive importing and exporting of humans, and Mongols joined in as another 10% of the
population, but controlled everything. This is like in France .5% of the population was the 1st
estate which controlled almost everything and the 2nd estate was 98% the population in France,
had less power. This links with Mongols, because they had the most power, but were a smaller
portion of the population. During this time period the craftsman and the artists were drafted.
They were forced to craft and create art. These people were selected from the cities and were
sent to work in certain locations. This was forced removal, moving them from their families.
This way of the government choosing individuals for a certain job was a new way of doing
things. This is like when the government during major wars drafted soldiers to fight. The
government changed, because the Mongols now ruled the Russian lands. This is like when

centuries later czar Nicholas the 2nd imperialized Ukraine took it over and enslaved the people.
Economic changes during this time period was a massive amount of destruction this is causing
economy to change a little bit. Buildings and public property is being destroyed and needs public
servants which costs money. This is like the Rape of Nanking a tragic event in history when
Japan imperialized china and took it over. They enslaved the people changing the economy.
Social changes according to the document is the destruction of the cities and enslaving of people
stunned the Russians and they got angry. This is like in Great Britain when the British East India
company took over India and enslaved the people. The Indians were stunned and angry too. The
imperialization of the Russians from the Mongols was beneficial. According to document 2 The
Mongols and the Russians lived in peace after the conquest. Politically the Mongols helped
peace and prosperity between the Russians and their own culture. This is like Alexander the
Great unifying a bunch of countries and allowing diverse cultures to live together in harmony.
Mongols made sure that Russia's commercial state was secure and trade was ready to commence.
This is like when America forced Japan to industrialize causing economic change and allowed
them to start trading. The social difference was all cultures mongols contained including
religion was blended into Russias. This is like Japan giving making sure everyone started to use
western culture ultimately changing Japanese culture. Kublai Khan was a harsh ruler that was
warlike and changed china. According to document 3 until time of Genghis Khan's death in 1227
he controlled most of northern China, but the swampy lands to the south stopped his soldiers
from moving forward. Politically changes was in up to 1227 Genghis Khan controlled Northern
China which was changing powers than later on Kublai Khan the son of Genghis Khan
controlled almost all of China. Economic changes was another major change. Water control
projects began, this is like when the Romans gave running water. Water control has been

important in history for plumbing, water source, and transportation advantages. Trade began
from Kublais rule which China was isolated. Chinese products went all the way to Middle East
and Europe. China gave gunpowder, the compass, and printing later on to the western world
which were major breakthroughs in technology. New materials like silk was also traded thanks to
the Mongols. Social changes in China was the Pax Mongolica which made peace. This is like the
Magna Carta in Europe which helped make peace with feudal lords in Europe. The Mongols
overall created peace in Russia and China at the end. They began to mix cultures and traditions.
Mongols increased trade especially on the Silk Roads. These roads gave new technology and
materials. Ultimately the Mongols created the biggest empire in history.
The Spanish conquests brought Political, economic, and social changes to Native
Americans. Spanish priests began to convert the religion of Native Americans. According to
document 4 in 1737 there was engraving made that showed a Spanish priest preaching to Indians
of Mexican origin. Political changes that occurred according to document 4 Native American and
Spanish relationships are changing. The Native Americans are starting to listen to the priest. This
is allowing the Spanish to gain power. A lot of citizens listen to the Church. This will allow Spain
to imperialize civilizations, easily with more efficiency. This is like when admiral Perry told the
Japanese that if they did not open their ports in a certain amount of time they would go in and
imperialize them. This was a good plan from the United States, because it caused Japan's leaders
to start the Meiji Restoration. This restoration opened ports in Japan and industrialized them, this
gave them mass industry, with machines. This changed the culture of Japan and this got what the
Americans wanted by opening ports. The Americans influenced the Japanese ultimately with
Western culture, which let them get what they want. Economic changes that occurred as a result.
According to this document the there was not any economic changes. It is known that Natives

payed their wealth and gave up land to the new foreign influences. The Church going as
missionaries to Latin America allowed more expansion for Spanish troops. According to this
document the social changes that occurred as a result of the priest coming in to Latin America,
was Christianity was introduced into the Native culture. Members of the Native society
converted to Christianity and people were starting to either allow or resist foreign influence.
Examples of foreign influence involving the church was when the crusades were occurring. This
was a holy war that took place in the middle ages. This war was to muslims vs christians. This
battle was in the middle east over the "Holy Land" this land is mentioned in the bible. The
christians told there troops that they will automatically go to heaven. Since religion was a key
factor of life during this time period. This is all connected, because religion can allow countries
to take advantage and pursue things more efficiently. Life was different in the new Spanish
colonies the culture and traditions changed. According to document 5 living in Colonial New
Spain had kept certain values and traditions from traditional Spanish culture. The Viceroy who
was appointed by the Spanish king was hired to be an agent of royal absolutism and take control
of the colony. According to document 5 the political changes that occurred in New Spain was
people were controlled by the Spanish king. The Viceroy appointed by the King controlled
everything in the colony. He was in control of the military forces was governor, supervisor of the
royal treasury, and chief executive. The spanish colonies were ruled by absolutism was the
biggest change by foreign influences. This is like Britain controlling America in the 1700's. They
ruled with mostly absolute rule and British made sure the Americans were working for the
Britain's benefit. Another example is when Hitler appointed high ranking military advisors to
keep colonies in check during the course of World War 2. Economic changes according to
document 5 during the Spanish controlling colonies was the viceroy distributed land, and

controlled the royal treasury. Also during this time period colonies were controlled by
mercantilism which is when they give raw materials to Spain and in return they buy finished
products from the mother country Spain. During this policy everything was to benefit the mother
country. According to this document social changes that occurred during this time period was
traditions of these colonies were mostly Spanish, but were tweaked and traditions were changed
a bit. This is like when the Mongols took over China and they changed their traditions and their
culture. Spanish colonies social class system changed society and events occurred because of
it .According to document 6 in Spanish colonies there was a social system. The class in this
system was the Peninsulares were the people who lived in Spain, the Creoles were born in the
colonies whose parents are either Peninsulares or other creoles. If you married a African slave or
Native American you move down the social scale. According to this document the political
changes that occurred as a result of this class system was the Peninsulares were in command.
This caused Creoles to get angry because they were full Spanish blood were not allowed to have
a high political position. This later on caused Creoles to make a Revolution and stop Spanish rule
in Latin America. This Revolution was lead by Simon Bolivar. This Revolution had more, cause
in the Creoles eyes, because the Peninsulares were less than 1% of the population, but had all the
control. Economic changes according to this document was the African Slaves. They got all the
raw material to give to the mother country. This gave more money to the Peninsulares. The
African slaves were better slaves than natives, because they were not affected by the smallpox
disease. Mercantilism was very important economic system for the Colony also. Social changes
according to the document were the new social caste system. Also Simon Bolivar was a symbol
of freedom for the Latin Americans too. Ultimately the caste system was the major change in the
Spanish colonies. In all the documents 4-6 the foreign influence of Spain has changed how Latin

America lived. There culture is even in Latin America partly in today's world. Spanish affected
the Native Americans Politically, Socially, and Economically.
