The History of the Opera

House and the Phantom of
the Opera
In the original story of the Le Fantome de LOpera, young singer Christine Daaes
talent is found at a gala. Her childhood friend hears her singing and remembers his
love for her. There are rumors of a Phantom living at the opera house, and he
shows himself through evil acts. When someone other that Christine is given the
lead role, the Phantom makes his anger known by taking the lead singers voice.
Shortly after, Christine is kidnapped. The Phantom reveals himself to be simply Erik.
He plans to keep her there for a few days but when Christine unmasks him, a face
like that of a rotting corpse is revealed. This changes his plan and she must
promise to wear his ring and be faithful to him. Later Christine escapes, and plans
to go to a place where Erik cannot find her. Overhearing Christines plans with her
friend Raoul, Erik kidnaps Christine again, and knowing that Raoul is coming to
rescue her traps him, and makes Christine promise to marry him, or he will
blow the opera house up, with explosives in the cellar. Christine begs him to save
Raoul, and after rescuing him, and realizing how much Christine loves him,
releases them both, making Christine promise to come back and bury him when

and the History of the

Opera House
Is the story true? There are records of a Kristina Nilsson, a
soprano at the opera. She has a strikingly similar life to CHristine
Daae, in that she played violin, her voice was discovered
accidentally, and that she was an adopted orphan. Some even
claim that the Phantom Erik was a real person, who helped design
the opera house, and had basically the same backstory. He was
shunned by his mother and joined a traveling circus when he was
6. Even though it is claimed that this story could be true, it is not
known out of fact, rather than , an old, traveling rumor. According
to national geographic, there is an underground pool, and caverns
beneath the opera house. In the story, the phantoms home is
across a lake. My assumption would be that the Phantom of the
Opera has bits, and pieces that are true, and others have been

Ballet
When MOST people think
of ballet they think of
tutus, shoes that have
ribbons up to your knees
and pretty ballerina
turns NOT TRUE! Ballet
is graceful, but you can
still be you. Ballet is also
very tiring and requires
effort. You have to want
to do ballet in order to be
able to put in the effort.

Ballet has a long history in France. Frances

Ballet reached its height though when Louis
