students from section one, later joined by section two. The first part of the
seminar which was on what debate is and the benefits of debating was discussed
by Christine Pastrana. Next, Allen Llabore talked about the Asian Parliamentary
set up and lastly Marc Medina talked about argumentation. Following all this was
a model debate, when it ended the students were led into an engaging
discussion to process what they observed during the debate. After which there
was a lunch break. For the second half, which was the workshop the students
were divided into seven groups, one for each DebSoc member, and were given
topics for the children to tackle and talk about for three minutes. They were given
15 minutes to prep their speeches and then deliver them within their assigned
groups. Personal adjudication was given for each speaker. Everyone reconvened
and concluded on the all that transpired during the day. The PNU DebSoc was
recognized and the principal closed the days activities. By 4:00 PM the group
was on its way back to PNU.
