To whom it may concern,
It is my privilege and pleasure to recommend Jessica Burton for an Art Educator at
your school. I have known Ms. Burton for the past two years. First as she volunteered
in my classroom as a graduate student, and now as her cooperating teacher in her
Elementary student teaching experience.
I have had many students observe my classroom over the years and I was pleasantly
struck at how comfortable she was with all of my students from Lower School to
Middle School. Unlike most graduate students, she was not just a mere observer, but
an active participant in the classroom, talking with the students, asking them
thoughtful questions about their artwork and laughing alongside them. I could tell
early on that Ms. Burton was a born teacher.
Because of her natural ability in the classroom I asked Ms. Burton if she could help me
with an after school art class that meets for an hour once a week, she happily
accepted with the enthusiasm that she is now known for. It is through these after
school classes and student teaching experience that I have come to observe Ms.
Burtons great leadership skills and work ethic. Managing 30+ very young art students
in a classroom environment is no easy task, yet Ms. Burton handles it with the ease
and grace of a seasoned veteran. She has a way of anticipating not only my needs, but
also the needs of all of the students and helps lead the class to completion of the
projects. It is because of her dedication, leadership and enthusiasm that I nominated
Ms. Burton to a National Leadership position as the National Art Education Association
Preservice Division Director that she has now been in office, and very successful.
Ms. Burton just completed her eighth week student teaching with me. She led all art
classes efficiently and successfully. Her hard work ethic is evident in her lesson plans
and execution. She has developed a wonderful report with both the students and
faculty and we will truly miss her. It has been my pleasure to be Mrs. Burtons lead
teacher and know that she will be a tremendous asset to whichever school she
joins. If you need any more information please dont hesitate to contact me at 612419-6024
