How Bullying Affects High School Students
High School Students are bullied in three ways; being called harmful, being hit or
kicked, being threatened. The purpose of this research report is to analyze how High School
Students bully each other. Bullying is the big problem for all of high school students because
it can affect their behavior and their school performance. Thus, this research share
information
about bullying its effect for everyone to know about how to protect themselves from
bullying.
I used four references in this research project. First, an article called What is bullying
published by stopbullying.gov explained that bullying means the aggressive behavior that
depending on what happened. Second, an article called Real bullying story published by
noplace4hate.org. and Third, an article called My bullying experience published by
us.reahout.com they are all explained the experiences of those students who were bullied.
The last article called How do stop bullying in the school published by psychcentral.com
indicated that The best way to stop bullying in schools is for parents to change the way that
they take care their children at home. All of the parents have their children differently.
Bullies
is come from homes where physical punishment.
What is Bullying?
The bullying in school is one of the problems among high school students. Bullying
simply refers to the aggressive behavior that depending on what happened, how often it
happens and who it happens to. (stopbullying.org, N.D.). For example singing derogatory
songs
and inserting the persons name or using cruel nickname. The students who have been

TABTIMTHONG 46
bullying, they will feel scared, force and it can effect to their exam result because they will
scared to go to school and they will not concentrate in classroom. In an article name My
bullying experience (us.reahout.com, N.D.) indicated that he was bullied from 8th grade, and
every day they picked on him for his race. One of them said to him that he was gay. They
made
jokes and called his names like Gandhi. And the other one of bullies said that he was gay
while he was changing cloths in the locker room, He was staring at people of the same sex
when they were dressing. He didnt gay, and he accepted of those who are. But, when
they labeled him as gay, he felt like they violated and disrespected him. He felt that people
most commonly use the word gay or faggot to describe people who are different from
them. They felt that it was joke, but it was torture and abuse to him. He felt like his life ended
because he felt all of his friends were trying to do the same. He tried so hard to get them to
stop
and understand that enough was enough, but none of them listened. From his experience, he
felt that he needed to take action to prevent this from happening to others. But never once did
he think of committing suicide. He knew that the only way out without transferring schools
and had the bullying continue was to tell an adult on campus. He still had anxiety and
depression. Finally, he got involved in SOS , that was a project from his school to helped the
people who was bullying. He helped so many people, and it was the best feeling. Now he has
a lots of good friends and no one bully him again
Types of Bullying
There are three types of bullying. The first one is verbal bullying. It means saying or
writing mean things such as teasing, Name calling and inappropriate sexual comments.
The real story about verbal bullying written by Ceyanne. She shared that when she was in 2nd
grade her aunt brought a dog home, and one day it ripped up her face. She began school and
her friends started to call her name like scareface, ugly, hideous. She was a native American
so it made the thing got worse because kids told her go back the reservation that you
belong.

TABTIMTHONG 47
She never told anyone because she thought nobody understood her. One day she went to
see her grandfather who was a pastor and when she could not hold it in any longer she cried
and told him everything she was going through, and he told her that she was the most
beautiful
girl. So the next day she began to had conscious and be confident but sometime she still
listened
to what other people said about her appearance. You may think theres nobody who will listen
to you but there are more people who go through what you are going through every day. The
second one is social bullying that is hurting someones reputation. As an example, leaving
someone out on purpose, telling other children not to be friends with someone. This is an
article
about social bullying written by Gerrika. She told that when she was in the 8th grade, herbest
friend came up to her, looking worried and scared. She asked her friend what was wrong.
She took out her iPad and showed Gerrika some pictures. Some person decided to start a
Facebook paged called "Gerrika The Suck" and acted like this facebook was her. It got
around
and everyone said "Aww there goes the girl that that happened to." They felt sorry for
her. Gerrika hated when people felt sorry for her. She wanted it to go away, so she ignored it.
But then people said that she was the one doing it. They said she was just trying to get
attention. In her mind felt like "Really? Do you think I wanted this?" But people were
sticking
up for her. She really wanted to stop this bullying but it was very hard to find who created
the Facebook. The last one is physical bullying which is hurting a persons body or
possessions.
For example hitting someone, taking or breaking someones things. This story is about
physical
Bullying written by Meghan. She said that when she was 14 years olds. All her life, she was
bullied. When she was sleeping in, she got a call from a blocked number, calling her awful
names, telling Meghan that nobody wants her here. She just let it go. She fell back to
sleep and then, she got another call, from unknown. Telling her the same thing. She felt

TABTIMTHONG 48
devastated. She felt trashy and embarrassed. She ran down the hall, and out the door. She
went
back home, Meghan missed three weeks of school. Meghan checked her Facebook,
everybody
was talking about her. She felt worthless and lonely. She tried to kill herself. She cut, and
took
15 pills. Nothing happen. when Meghan went back to school, nothing changed. She walked
the
halls alone, and had no friends. At lunch that day, it has rude girl threw the food in her face,
she was fed up with it. She finally stood up for herself. Meghan told her to back off. After
that,
nobody messed with her. She just had to stand up for herself. Everybody left her alone.

How to Protect Yourself from Bullying

The best way to stop bullying in schools is for parents to change the way that they
take care their children at home. All of the parents have their children differently. Bullies
is come from homes where physical punishment. It is used and children have been taught that
physical violence. Parental involvement often is lacking in bullies lives and there seems to be
little warmth. Most school programs use a multi-faceted to solved the problem. This usually
relate to counseling of some sort, either by peers, a school counselor, teachers, or the
principal.
Hand out questionnaires to all students and teachers and discuss if bullying is occurring.
The questionnaire is a wonderful tool that allows the school to see how widespread bullying
is
and what forms it is taking. It is a good way to start to address the problem. Get the childrens
parents involved in a bullying program. If parents of the bullies and the victims are not aware
of what is going on at school, then the whole bullying program will not be effective. Stopping
bullying in school takes teamwork and concentrated effort on everyones part. Bullying also

TABTIMTHONG 49
should be discussed during parent-teacher conferences. Parental awareness is key. In the
classroom setting, all teachers should work with the students on bullying. Oftentimes even
the
teacher is being bullied in the classroom and a program should be set up that implements
teaching about bullying. Children understand modeling behaviors and role-play and acting
out
bullying situations is a very effective tool. Have students role-play a bullying situation.
Rules that involve bullying behaviors should be clearly posted. Schools also could ask local
mental health professionals to speak to students about bullying behaviors and how it directly
affects the victims. Schools need to make sure there is enough adult supervision at school to
lessen and prevent bullying. A child who has to endure bullying usually suffers from low selfesteem and their ability to learn and be successful at school is dramatically lessened. Schools
and parents must educate children about bullying behaviors, it will help all children feel safe
and secure at school. Children who bully need to be taught empathy for others feelings in
order
to change their behaviors.

Conclusion
The purpose of this research report was to analyze how High School Students
bullying
each other. This research gave me ideas about the effects of bullying and knew a lot of
experiences from the people who were bullied, and saw how they felt about it. Bullying was
the aggressive behavior that depending on what happened, how often it happens and who it
happens to. There are three types of bullying, which are verbal bullying, social bullying, and
physical bullying. Most school programs use a multi-faceted to solved the problem. This
usually relate to counseling of some sort, either by peers, a school counselor, teachers, or the
principal. Hand out questionnaires to all students and teachers and discuss if bullying is

occurring. I recommend further research on the cause of bullying, it will help us to prevent
bullying from our society.
