Strengths/Areas for Improvement

What did your preceptor do that was most helpful? It was great to have an orientation experience with a nurse with as much
knowledge as Nicole. Not only has she been a nurse for several years at UCH, but she has a long nursing career from a prior
institution as well. It was helpful to have a preceptor with more experience than me and who had also been at a different hospital. I
felt like she could relate to the difficulties of a new hospital and integrating my prior experiences into my current practice.

What could your preceptor do differently? Nothing in particular comes to mind

Any other suggestions for improvement of the orientation process? I really enjoyed having my last two days with Nicole..she has a
great nursing career with many experiences. I appreciated hearing about her opportunities outside of UCH and how they have
contributed to her current career. Its inspiring to see an orientation process with preceptors who actually choose/want to precept. In
my previous job, preceptors were thrown into the role without much training or choice. I think it definitely makes a difference to
have preceptors who are willing to educate and are knowledgeable about the floor/hospital/policies and procedures.
