The students will display what they have learned throughout the unit about the planets by using
technology to create an interactive poster that includes researched information and key/vocabulary
terms.

Procedure
Day 1
Day 1
1. Students will be placed in small groups of four and assigned one planet by the teacher. The students will move their

seat to their assigned group table to facilitate effective group work. Once in their table groups, students will each take

one group task: equipment manager (picks up and returns technology/materials), directions reader (reads the
Kinesthetic
directions to the group), recorder (writes the groups ideas when working together), and focus monitor (monitors
group members to help the group stay on task) by drawing a job from the basket in the center of the table. The
teacher will then model and explain the role of each job.
2. The equipment manager will walk to the cart and take four Chromebooks back to their group. The teacher will ask
the directions reader to turn on their Chromebook and explain that the group will have 7-8 minutes to complete this
step. The teacher will also model how to share a document with the other group members so that every student has
access to the document. The directions reader will then turn on their computer and open the collaborative Google

Doc the teacher has shared with their group. They will read the directions for Day 1 to the group. The recorder will
take the Chromebook and list as many facts and vocabulary/key terms as the group can remember about their planet.
3. When the timer expires, the teacher will call the attention of the class back to the front. The teacher will explain that
students will now be researching their planet on their own for 10-12 minutes. Each group member will then turn on
his or her own Chromebook. Independently, students will watch videos and visit websites for their planet from the
Blast Off WebQuest to collect additional facts about their planet and add it to the group Google Doc. At the end of
the lesson, the equipment manager will return the Chromebooks to the cart.
Day 2
1. Students will draw new jobs for the day (the student cannot repeat the same job). The equipment manger will retrieve
the Chromebooks from the cart.
2. The teacher will instruct the directions reader to turn on the Chromebook and read the directions in the Google Doc
for Day 2. He/She will also let them know they will have 10-12 minutes to complete this task. The directions reader
will turn the Chromebook on and open the Google Doc. As a group, students will review the collaborative Google
Doc of planet facts. Working together, the students will group the facts into categorizes in a mind map on

map to be responsible for on their groups poster and will have 15 minutes to get started today. The focus monitor
will help to assign one category from the mind map to each group member (the teacher will encourage groups to
reach agreements through discussion that the focus monitor will help to facilitate).

Each student will turn on his or her Chromebook. Students will begin finding short videos and/or images for the
poster and saving the links in the groups Google Doc. At the end of the session, the equipment manager will return
the Chromebooks to the cart.

Day 3
1. Students will draw new jobs for the day (the student cannot repeat the same job). The equipment manager will
retrieve the Chromebooks from the cart. The teacher will explain that each student will have 25 minutes to work on
his or her part of the poster. Each student will turn on his or her Chromebook. They will design and input their
collected information from the Google Doc into their interactive poster template on Glogster.

2. When the timer expires, the teacher will ask the group recorder to submit the link for their poster to the teacher. The
students will use a Google form read by the direction reader and written by the recorder to report their reflections and
submit their poster link to the teacher.

3. The teacher will embed each poster into the class webpage.
Day 4
1. Students will draw new jobs for the day (the student cannot repeat the same job). The equipment manager will
retrieve one Chromebook from the cart.
2. The teacher will tell the students that they will have 4-5 minutes to explore each interactive poster on the class
website. Each group member will take two turns to click on the interactive links (focus monitor, recorder, directions
reader, equipment manager). Groups will explore the interactive posters created by their peers and comment on the
poster in the comment box on the class website (recorded by the student clicking on that planet poster).
